With only 5 units ever to be made, the RM 56-01 Sapphire Crystal is a stunning timepiece with a totally transparent sapphire case, movement bridges and baseplate. Don’t be fooled by its fragile appearance, though! Not everything transparent breaks easily.
According to its maker, the watch is “immune to temperature variations and wear, ensures excellent stability and offers exemplary chronometric performance”. A reliable combination of sapphire crystal and titanium makes the timepiece totally irresistible.
This spectacular result, however, is obtained after a whopping 40 days of continuous work (24 hours a day!). For the construction of the spectacular case, Richard Mille enjoyed special assistance from Stettler Sapphire AG, the renowned sapphire crystal specialists in Lyss, Switzerland.
Finally, Richard Mille worked together with Biwi SA to develop a unique material for the strap as well. The Aerospace nano material offers a high level of transparency paired with an even more impressive level of strength. To top it all off, the strap is totally comfortable to wear, thus completing the flawless concept behind RM 56-01 Sapphire Crystal.
