Volvo’s not a company known for manufacturing trucks, but that hasn’t stopped its experts from creating this beastly ride, which actually managed to break not one but two world speed records. In order to do that, Volvo equipped the truck with a quad-turbocharged 13-liter diesel engine mounted in the middle of the chassis, which gives off 2,400 horsepower and 4,425 lb-ft of torque.
Even though the truck tips the scales at 10,000 pounds, it’s still able to reach 62 mph in just 4.6 seconds, while its top speed is somewhere at 171.5 mph. The records that we mentioned before are the 500 meter one done in 13.71 seconds with an average speed of 81.6 mph, as well as the 1,000 meter record reached in 21.29 seconds at an average speed of 109 mph. The truly impressive part is that the truck was custom made only as far as the engine and I-Shift Dual Clutch transmission are concerned.
