Audemars Piguet’s Platinum Anniversary Royal Oak

Audemars Piguet’s Platinum Anniversary Royal Oak

Four decades after the launch of the Royal Oak timepiece, Audemars Piguet will launch a stunning extra-thin version of the watch to celebrate its 40th anniversary. Boasting a brushed 950 platinum case and bracelet, the watch is powered by a self-winding mechanism Caibre 5122 that is only 3.05 mm thick. It has 247 parts and 36 jewels, and its power reserve is of up to 40 hours. Unsurprisingly, the anniversary watch will be made in a limited series of only 40 pieces.

The openworked dial shows the intricate gray mechanism inside, which has an operating frequency of 19,800 vibrations per hour. A small window at 3 o’clock indicates the date. The hour markers are of white gold, and so are the hands, with a luminescent coating. A glareproof sapphire crystal covers the intricate dial, and the case is water resistant to 50 meters. Interested customers will have to wait until the Royal Oak’s launch in January 2012.Audemars Piguet’s Platinum Anniversary Royal Oak
