The brand new MWT-9 Multi-Wheeler concept that was unveiled during the Tokyo Motor Show not too long ago is impressive for a number of reasons, but first of all, we’re going to talk a bit about its looks. This particular motorcycle borrows some of its design cues from the MT-09 model, but what makes it truly stand out is the fact that it rides on three wheels.
This gives it an advantage in cornering and allows the rider to lean much more aggressively than he would otherwise be able to on a regular motorcycle. Looks aside, this thing is powered by an 849 cc triple-cylinder engine that delivers 115 horsepower and 64.5 lb-ft of torque. This means that it accelerates fast and is able to reach mind-blowing top speeds, which is why it was equipped with dual forks for improved stability. The engine will probably be mated to a six-speed gearbox, and the great news is that a steering damper is not completely out of the question either.
Three-wheelers are definitely a bit unusual, but they can be just as impressive as two-wheelers if they are designed and built right. If there’s a company out there that can perfect such an incredible design, it’s Yamaha.
