Hearing about an Android device that costs $14,000 for the first time conjures images of luxury and opulence, which is understandable considering the blinged up smartphones that are being offered by the likes of Vertu and Tag Heuer. However, the smartphone that we’re talking about has no extravagant embellishments whatsoever, while its price tag is solely justified by its outstanding security and high-end tech. Created by Sirin Labs, the Solarin phone was not manufactured by hand, and doesn’t include any fancy materials.
It was put together in an old Sony Ericsson plant in Sweden, and what really makes it stand out is that it can reportedly protect your data much better than other US-made device. Its creator even went so far as to name it “the most secure device in the world,” but this doesn’t mean that it’s unbreakable. It’s true that there are cheaper offerings on the market right now, including the Blackphone, but it looks like Solarin is actually good at protecting your data from a wide variety of hacking attempts, which makes it much more reliable. Privacy is a very important thing nowadays, and it’s not something that any of us should take lightly. However, we have to wonder just how much we’re willing to pay for online security and anonymity.
Would you purchase the $14,000 Solrain smartphone?
