The most expensive hot dog in the world was not retailed as part of a special event hosted by some prestigious company, but it was sold from a food truck in a parking lot, which definitely sounds appropriate, if you ask us. Priced at $100, the fancy Maille Truffle Haute Dog was sold in Melbourne, Australia, but it wasn’t the only item on the menu that day. Other options included a Maille Haute Dog for $10 as well as a Maille Chablis Haute Dog for $25.
The Haute Dog includes a grass-fed sausage in a bun, complemented by a strip of French-made Chablis white wine and black Perigord truffle mustard. As you’re probably aware by now, pretty much anything that has truffles in it is incredibly expensive, and since these truffles can only be picked In France five months a year from October to March, they are quite exclusive. Whoever ended up buying one of these hot dogs also received a 100ml ceramic jar of this outstanding mustard, which definitely helped justify the spicy price tag.
