Surfing is not the most glamorous sport in the world, but that doesn’t mean that it can’t be luxurious. The most expensive surfboard in the world can transform surfing into an incredibly unique and lavish experience, as it was created using 24k gold leaf. The board was shaped entirely by hand and is worth about $183,000. It was put together in a small studio in North Devon, England by a company named Lux Surfboards, whose experts specialize in creating these products.

Dubbed Aureus, this surfboard is made out of regular fiberglass, but it was enveloped in 24-karat gold leaf for the ultimate luxury look. Designer Ellie Miller, who worked on this masterpiece, has stated that the use of 24k gold leaf “enhances the subtle wave of the fiberglass and imbues the curves of the board with a delicate luminosity.”

We couldn’t agree more.
