Wonderful Garden House by Joaquín Alvado Bañón

Beautifully landscaped gardens have the power to relax even the most stressed out person. This is why this superb Garden House is such a wonderful contemporary project. It was designed by Joaquín Alvado Bañón and completed in 2012 in Vistahermosa, Alicante, Spain.

The project explores the relation between architecture and nature in a low-density area of the city. The indoor and outdoor spaces are separated only by glass walls, ensuring a continuous connection between the two. This way, the natural/artificial interplay keeps its dynamic nature, not allowing any clear boundaries.

As the building seems to emerge from the ground, nature appears to hold a grip on it, embracing it with green hands that climb over the walls. The residence offers its inhabitants the priceless privilege of walking barefoot on soft grass at every level, taking in the full beauty of nature.

The house was built for a family of three generations, and this detail had a significant role in establishing its various functions. The common area where everybody can meet and socialize is situated on the ground floor, while the upper levels ensure all the privacy every member needs.
