The question itself may sound absurd, but what’s going on with the state? Recently the state has been seeing unprecedented population growth. In the time between 2012-2022 the state grew by over 3,170,000. This number is larger than almost half of the states within the U.S. The question is why?
Naturally, the answer is complicated. One of the biggest driving forces though is certainly the cities within the state. Tampa, Jacksonville, Orlanda, and of course Miami are seeing massive growth every year. Few states feature as many relevant cities which don’t start to taper out with time.
Following this growth, Florida has one of the best housing markets in the nation. While prices are lofty, down payments are low, interest rates are low, and appreciation is massive. This means that securing a mortgage in Florida is a great investment for any prospective homeowner.
Florida also hosts a surprising amount of small businesses. The state actually has the highest percentage of small businesses in the nation. Work in general is extremely accessible and employment is growing year after year. Better yet cost of living is still reasonable within the state, resting around the national average.
All these factors together make it much more obvious why Florida is seeing so much growth. The state is simply and overwhelmingly doing well. Of course there are still downsides. It is still a pricey state, and things like natural disasters are a real worry, but these factors aren’t enough. People want to be in Florida and they want to be there now.
