Advanced technologies, brand new design and traditional values are all part of the new luxury concept car that Volvo prepared for this year’s Shanghai Auto Show. Called Concept Universe, this lovely vehicle suggests infinity and freedom with its sculptural design.
When Jonathan Disley, Strategic Design Manager Advanced at Volvo Cars, told the company’s designers about the new concept, he underlined the fact that he wanted to see no edges, no rough lines, a only fluid, smooth gracefulness. Describing the final outcome, now Disley can proudly assert: “Without the edges, all lines are infinite”. Just like the Universe. Also suggesting endlessness is the striking front grille and the mesmerizing headlamps.
Inside, a unique combination of high quality leather, walnut and hand-painted china inserts emphasizes the luxe character of the vehicle. Here traditional craftsmanship meets advanced technology for even more appeal. Intuitive controls, a touch screen that approaches the hand when you reach towards it, a 3D head-up display showing all the important information directly on the windshield – all these and more make the new Concept Universe from Volvo an irresistible vehicle.
