Villa GM project, completed in 2010, was designed by Architrend Architecture studio and it is situated in Marina di Ragusta, Sicily, Italy.
The property is part of a complex of multiple houses, all offering incredibly beautiful and expansive views over the Mediterranean Sea. The design of the house was influenced by the program of the Case Study Houses (CSH) implemented in the 50s, which was the idea of John Enteza, the founder of Art & Architecture magazine.
The architecture of the residence is simple and clean. It has an L-shaped plan set around a large swimming pool and the materials used are wood and steel for the frame, cement for the floors and glass for the side walls. Vertical sidewalls surrounding the house create the impression of a suspended building. The beautiful garden features Mediterranean plants, cacti and palm trees. The interior walls are painted in opaque white, creating a contrast with the wooden beams of the roof, but complementing the grey of the floors.
