Tokyo-based company Casio is one of the world’s most famous manufacturers of watches, digital cameras, electronic calculators, electronic musical instruments and clocks, and it looks like the brand is now expanding its portfolio by releasing something rather unusual: a DJ controller series.
Dubbed Trackformer Series, this set includes a pair of hardware pieces that were designed to cater to the needs of beginner DJs who are still learning the ropes. The first piece is the XW-PD1 Groove Center, which flaunts a synthesizer, a 16-button sampler, an effector and a sequencer. This product is set to be released in March and features a price of $399.
The second piece is the simpler XW-DJ1, which comes with a 7-inch scratchable turntable complemented by a cross fader and filter controls. The XW-DJ1 can be used to control cue points, looping, various effects and tempo, and it works with various DJ applications. Scheduled for a January release, this fine Casio product will cost $299.
