Tips on Keeping My Luxury BMW Running Like New

Bmw, Car, Vehicle, Transportation, Road, City, Urban

There are few car brands as desirable as BMW. The German manufacturer is synonymous with luxury, class and sophistication, but there is a common sentiment amongst car enthusiasts that BMW and other German car brands are expensive to maintain. This is largely true due to the fact that they are luxury cars that use premium parts, meaning that it can cost a lot of money to replace parts or have work carried out.

BMW’s History

BMW has a long history of manufacturing many of the world’s most stylish, powerful and technologically-advanced automobiles. BMW’s history began in 1913 when they began manufacturing aircraft engines which they would go on to supply to the German airforce in WW1 – this history in aviation is evident with their logo which is supposed to portray a plane’s rotary blades against a blue sky. They become an automobile manufacturer in 1928 and have gone on to make many of the most desirable automobiles of all time while retaining their core value of exceptional engineering.

The Importance of Protection

It is easy to see why so many motorists dream of owning a BMW and they are considered to be status symbols because they are so luxurious. As a prized possession and one which can be expensive to repair, it is vital that owner’s know how to properly maintain and look after their vehicle which will help to keep it in good condition and hopefully stop any issues from occurring.

So, how can you protect a BMW? Much like with any vehicle, basic maintenance is key and there are a number of tasks which you should be performing yourself to keep the car in the best possible condition. These are:

  • Cleaning inside and out
  • Topping up fluids
  • Changing the oil
  • Topping up tyre pressure
  • Checking tyre tread depth
  • Checking tyres for signs of damage
  • Replacing the air filter

Storage & Driving

In addition to this, you should also try to keep the car parked somewhere safe, secure and sheltered if possible. You should never leave a car unused for too long so you should take it out for a spin at least once a week, but when you do drive the car you should always do so carefully in order to protect the car (and for safety purposes).

Another important way to protect the automobile is with adequate insurance. Obviously, you will need car insurance as a legal requirement, but you should also make sure that you have protection in the form of an extended warranty (if the manufacturer warranty has expired) and GAP insurance which will provide protection if the car is ever written off (a comprehensive insurance policy would only pay the current market value).

It is also a good idea to take out alloy wheel insurance from a specialist like ALA which will cover the accidental damage which is so easy, such as scrapes against the curb and scuffs. BMW uses expensive parts, including diamond laser wheels, so having protection in place could save you a small fortune.

BMW drivers are the envy of many but it is important for those that buy this luxury brand understand the importance of protecting the vehicle in order to keep the costs down.
