Here’s how the next generation Lotus Exige S will get you drooling over it. First, it has a reworked body for an increased visual appeal, and a tweaked its interior for more comfort and style. Then comes the best part: the engine.
Borrowed from the Evora S, the 3.5-liter supercharged V6 engine at the back of the new Exige S boasts 346 horsepower and a whopping 2,380 lb-ft of maximum torque. Lotus CEO Dany Bahar informs that the new supercar is meant to offer “the ultimate Lotus experience” and assures us that the car is definitely not for the faint-hearted.
To help the wheels deal with all that power, Lotus wrapped them in specially-developed Pirelli P-Zero Corsa tires. Drives can choose their favorite driving mode thanks to the Lotus DPM (Dynamic Performance Management) system, which offers Touring, Sport and DPM off modes. For some extra cash you can also get the Race Pack option, which adds a fourth driving mode (Race), a Launch Control system and a modified suspension.
When the new Exige S will go on sale next year, it will boast a 0-60 mph time of just 4.1 seconds (or maybe even less). The CO2 and performance figures haven’t been witness tested yet, but no worries: these numbers will surely be revealed soon.
