The Grand Altamira Residence by Marmol Radziner

The Grand Altamira Residence by Marmol Radziner (28)

Altamira Residence is the perfect dream home for one California family. The property is situated along the coastline of the Palos Verdes Peninsula, California, occupying 20 acres of land. Designed by Marmol Radziner, the complex features well chosen colors and materials that help it visually integrate into the superb natural landscape.

There are four individual buildings that make up the 15,500-square-foot complex: the main house, the guest house, the study and the garage. In order to minimize the visual impact of the complex on the landscape, the architects chose to partially bury the main house and create an underground garage, thus preserving the beautiful ocean views for the rest of the neighborhood.

Decomposed granite gravel covers the pathways that connect the residence to the property’s olive orchard, vegetable garden, beach volleyball area, and camping platform. For a better integration into the natural site, more than 30,000 plants were brought here and used for the superb gardens that you can admire in the photos. We are really impressed by what a good collaboration between owner, architect and landscape designer can produce.
