There are plenty of people in the world that could afford to purchase their own castle, no doubt about it, but the problem is that these incredible buildings rarely go up for sale. However, this masterpiece in Piazza Umberto, Italy can now be purchased for $5.8 million, which is a small price to pay for a piece of Italian history.
The castle is located just 12 miles away from the Romagnola Riviera, and it is currently used for congress meetings, ceremonies, fashion shows, photo shootings, exhibits and lodging. Nerone, Mount Catria and San Marino are not far away from its location, while the nearest airport is located in Rimini, 15 miles away. The castle was built in the early 1300s by the Sigismondo Malatesta family, and it was sold in 1960 to a private owner who turned it into a restaurant. The present owners bought the castle a few years back and remodeled its facades, courtyards, gardens and halls. The electrical systems and the plumbing were also restored, and a large part of the materials used for the renovation came from the existing building.
