Designed by Chan Architecture, the Hawthorn Extension was added to a double fronted Victorian terrace house, and it looks incredible. The original house comprised four bedrooms at the front as well as a dining space, a living room and a kitchen with low ceilings. The owner wanted to demolish the rear portion of the house in order to implement a brand new dining/living/kitchen space as well as two bathrooms, a laundry area and a master bedroom.
The architects accepted the challenge even though they knew that the project could not be completed easily without sacrificing too much of the backyard. They managed to fulfill all expectations by creating a visual separation between the new part of the house and the old one. The extension flaunts high ceilings, clean design elements and high quality materials throughout.
