Spaceport America Needs Its Own Luxury Hotel

Virgin Galactic plans on offering the very best to its future clients, both in space and on Earth. A group of tourism experts assessed the area surrounding the America Spaceport and concluded that a new, high-end hotel was necessary in the area.

Up to this date, approximately 420 customers have made paid reservations for Virgin Galactic space flights and the company believes it’s important to offer them the very best in every detail. After all, they did pay $200,000 on a ticket to space.

This all sounds perfectly right, but still there is one problem: when the spaceport was created,  approximately halfway between Truth or Consequence and Las Cruces, New Mexico, Donna and Sierra county residents were asked to pay extra taxes to support the development. This was supposed to be a good investment for the entire area, as it was believed to boost the economy by attracting tourists. However, now that the existing hotels have proven to be not good enough, some residents in Truth or Consequence have started asking questions.

One of them is Linda Burnett, who said “I really think it’s bad of … government to assess a tax on an area and then say to the area ‘Well, you know, you’re just not good enough’”.

We don’t know what will happen next, but what we do know is that if the hotel will finally be build (and we believe it will), this will definitely be a good thing for Virgin Galactic and the spaceport. The luxury hotel is expected to bring many space-fascinated people, not only Virgin Galactic passengers. Many would be happy to just come and visit the spaceport or witness spectacular launches .
