Sotheby’s Auctions Off a Macallan M For $628,000

It’s no secret that fine drinks are usually quite expensive, but to pay $628,000 for a bottle of whisky is just unimaginable for most of us. During Sotheby’s Finest and Rarest Wines auction that took place in Hong Kong on January 18, a 1.5-gallon bottle of Macallan M single malt was sold for the aforementioned sum and set a new record for the most expensive bottle of whisky ever to be put under the hammer.

The rarity and value of the drink was complemented by a stunning Lalique crystal decanter in which it was housed, while the engraved autographs of Silvio Denz, Bob Dalgarno and Fabien Baron are also worth mentioning. The decanter is 1 out of 4 that were crafted worldwide by 17 artisans who invested 50 hours of hard work into the completion of each.
