We know that you’re excited about seeing Disney’s Cinderella this March because there’s definitely plenty to be excited for. Not only does the film feature incredible actors such as Lily James and Helena Bonham Carter, but many of the costumes and props were designed by Sandy Powell and are adorned with superb Swarovski crystals.
Since we’re talking about Cinderella after all, we should tell you that her iconic glass slippers were developed by a team of eight people, who worked for 150 hours and went through six different versions before eventually settling on the final piece. The shoe was hewn from solid crystal and boasts 240 facets coated in Crystal Blue Aurora Borealis. The collaboration between Sandy Powell and Swarovski also touched several jewelry pieces used in the film as well as props, costumes, wigs and make-up.
Cinderella’s blue gown that can be seen in the ball scene is heavily embellished with Swarovski crystals, as are the stepmother’s dress, the Fairy Godmother’s gown and her magic wand. All in all, Swarovski provided a staggering number of $1,7 million crystals for Disney’s Cinderella, so as you can probably imagine, you’re in for a very glittery experience come March.
