RM Auctions to Sale a Rare 1935 Bugatti Type 57 Roadster

1935 Bugatti Type 57 Roadster (15)

This gorgeous 1935 Bugatti Type 57 Roadster by Worblaufen will be sold by RM Auctions at their Monterey Peninsula sale in California in August. This is one of only ten Bugatti Grand Raid roadsters ever built and one of just two with bodywork by Carrosserie Worblaufen from Switzerland.

Commissioned by Swiss collector Jules Aellen, the car was showcased in 1935 at the second Concours d’Elegance at Montreux on Lake Geneva and it won the Grand Prix d’Honneur. Changing owners numerous times, the Bugatti remained in Switzerland until the 1950s, before reaching France and then America in 2000. The American collector commissioned a complete restoration of the car (18 moths of work), sparing no expense and asking Worblaufen to offer archives references for perfect accuracy.

In 2005 the beautifully restored Bentley participated in the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, wining second place in its category. Now it’s your chance to put your hands on it and pride yourself with its glory. It is expected to fetch between $1 million and $1.2 million.
