RM Auctions Sold a 250 GT LWB Berlinetta for $3.6 Million

This gorgeous 1958 Ferrari 250 GT LWB Tour de France Berlinetta became the star of the evening at an RM Auctions event, when a telephone bidder offered $3.6 million for it. The auction was held in London and it offered some really amazing vehicles, but three of the lots did not find new owners. These include a 1961 Aston Martin DB4 GT, expected to go for $1.24 million-$1.4 million, a 1955 Ferrari 750 Monza Spyder valued at $2.4 million-$2.9 million, and a 1972 Lamborghini Miura SV, expected to fetch $1.2 million-$1.4 million.

Back to the winner of this year’s Battersea Park sale, the 250 GT LWB Berlinetta spent most of its life in the U.S., until a few years ago, when a U.K. collector took it to his garage. The car was restored in 2005 and even participated in the Mille Miglia race that same year.  Its engine was replaced, but its charm is still the same. This coupe is one of only 39 Berlinettas to flaunt an all-alloy bodywork.
