This magnificent five-story SoHo townhouse has recently entered the market as lavish and very expensive rental: $20,000 per day, $50,000 a week, or $100,000 per month. The property used to be a factory and also a gallery space before its current owners (Mr. and Mrs. Nispel) bought it in 1996 for $1.75 million. The Nispels then spent twelve years renovating the remarkable property on Lafayette Street.

Boasting a 12-foot wide swimming pool, three bedrooms, three and a half baths, a gourmet kitchen, a 2,500-sq.ft. living room with 23-foot high ceilings, a 925-sq.ft. terrace and even a private elevator, the apartment was used as a lavish backdrop for celebrities on different occasions. Beyoncé shot her “Halo” music video in the building, Kate Beckinsale had a photo shoot here for the Esquire magazine 2009 Sexiest Woman Alive issue, and “Damages” used it as a set. No wonder the asking price is so high!

However, even if you decide you want to live in this extravagant dwelling, make sure you will never fall in love with it, because the owners do not intend to sell it. The apartment will one day become their permanent home, after they decide to  move into the city.Prohibitively Expensive Rental in Manhattan (3)
