Newton’s Principia To Be Auctioned Off For $1 Million 1

An incredibly rare first edition of Newton’s Principia is set to be put under the hammer for $1 million or more. The old text was designed specifically for Europeans, and even though Principia’s first edition was published in about 400 copies, only about 20% of them are a part of these continental versions. Newton was encouraged by the famed Halley astronomer to pen down his theories as part of a text book, and even though two copies of this book are in the possession of the Royal Society, this particular piece in Latin will be auctioned off by Christie’s.
