New York City is one of the top ten cruise ports in the country and starting next year it will become even more impressive than before. A new major cruise line will call the city its homeport, starting May 2012: Disney Cruise Lines. The company plans on introducing new itineraries and ports of embarkation, including New York City, Galveston and Seattle.

Michael Bloomberg, the Mayor of New York City (and the 10th richest person in the States), hopes that this will help reach his goal of attracting 50 million tourists annually in New York City by 2012, thus generating $11 million in additional revenue. Disney Magic will have twenty cruises from the Manhattan Cruise Terminal and it will head to Canada and the Bahamas. You can learn more about the new itineraries on Disney Cruise’s website.
