Meteorito – A Wine Made with Extraterrestrial Ingredients

Mr. Ian Hutchinson’s vineyard in Cachapoal Velley, Chile gives a very special wine, that you can’t find anywhere else on Earth. It is not because of the quality of the soil, or because of the great care that Mr. Hutchinson gives to his crops, but because of a unique ingredient that he uses in his wine making process. The story of his rare wine starts some 4.5 billion years back, when a meteorite started forming in the space.

Apparently, the 3-inch meteorite fell on Earth about 6,000 years ago, and it came from the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter. Ian Hutchinson decided to use this “piece of haven” to create a fine Cabernet Sauvignon with a unique “heavenly” taste. The rock is put into the wooden barrel in which the wine is aged, and then kept there for 12 months. This happens in the secondary process of fermentation, and the result is said to be a special wine with a “livelier taste”.

The wine is called Meteorito, and its price hasn’t been disclosed yet, but we assume it won’t be a bargain. After all, it’s not every day that people have the chance to drink something that was made with extraterrestrial ingredients.
