At the 2013 Detroit Motor Show (January 14-27), Mercedes-Benz is proudly presenting the brand new 2014 Mercedes E63 AMG and all its awesome features. These include a much more aggressive stance, an upgraded powertrain, and a couple of other improvements that one can only be grateful for.
Starting with the same 5.5-liter V8 twin-turbo engine that powered the previous version of the car, we’re happy to inform you that the team of AMG engineers did a little magic to squeeze 557 hp and 720 Nm of torque out of it. As a result, the E63 AMG can complete the 0-62 sprint in only 4.2 seconds. For even more impressive performance, you can choose the 4MATIC sedan that can tackle the task in just 3.7 seconds. The wagon needs an extra 0.1 second to do it.
As for the car’s improved looks, we can only say that we love what we see. More exactly, we like the modified front fascia with redesigned grille, new headlamps, and huge air ducts in the bumper, we dig the central splitter, and we fancy the redesigned rear bumper with new diffuser and trapezoidal tailpipes.
Also at this motor show, the German automaker unveils a E63 AMG 4MATIC S-Model in two body styles. The same engine lies under the hood, but its output is a little different: 585 hp and 800 Nm of torque. The sedan needs 3.6 seconds to go from 0 to 62 mph, while the estate needs 0.1 seconds more for the same task. As usually, the top speed for all models is 250 mph.
Other novelties at the show include AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sport transmission with 4 drive modes (Sport, Sport Plus, Manual and Controlled Efficiency), and an optional ceramic brake system featuring perforated and ventilated 360 mm brake disks with silver or red calipers and 360 mm brake disks. The S model sports 19-inch 10-spoke alloys and 255/35 R19 and 285/30 R19 tires.
