Set to be put under the hammer in Geneva on November 16, the beautiful Sky Blue Diamond will likely be purchased by a rich luxury enthusiast who will either put it up on display or store it in a secure vault somewhere. Weighing in at eight carats, the stone has been described as “wonderfully clear celestial blue” by the Worldwide Chairman of Sotheby’s International Jewelry Division, and it adorns an equally impressive ring.
The Sky Blue Diamond has received the Fancy Vivid blue color grading from the Gemological Institute of America, and it was also categorized at Type IIb, which is conferred to just 0.5 percent of all worldwide diamonds. All things considered, it comes as no surprise that its estimated price tag is at $25 million.
