Ingenious Urwerk 105TA Timepiece

It’s hard to find an Urwerk timepiece that’s normal by regular standards, and the 105TA watch is definitely not an exception to this rule. It makes use of a “satellite indication” system in order to tell the time, and this system is based on a set of spinning hour markers that tell the exact time while orbiting the main display.

The central gear in the display conceals four satellite dials, each featuring three numerals on its surface. The bottom of the display is where we see the minute markers, which showcase the full range of an hour. With the passing of time, the satellites point the current hour towards the minute marker in order to show the exact time of day. The power for these intricate systems comes from a pair of air turbines located at the rear of the case. By winding the watch, the user provides a steady stream of power that animates the inner mechanisms of the timepiece.
