Indy 500 Centenary at Desert Classic Concours D’Elegance

Vintage and classic car enthusiasts, prepare yourselves for a grand event this weekend! The 4th Annual Concours d’Elegance & Vintage Car Auction will take place in La Quinta, California between 25-27 February and will celebrate the 100th anniversary of Indy 500. Over 200 cars will be there for you to gaze at, many of them coming from private collections and museums.

Food, beverages and good music are also part of the event. It will all start on Friday, February 25 with the Desert Classic Vintage Car Auction Preview by EG Auctions, at Old Town La Quinta. Participation is free and open to the public, and some great cars like a 1925 Lincoln Model L Limousine, once owned by Greta Garbo, will be showcased.

The next day, on Saturday, February 26, The Dessert Classic Tour will assemble at Old Town La Quinta between 8-9 in the morning and then start their parade through the Coachella Valley. This will end at Cuistot Restaurant on El Paseo in Palm Desert, at approximately 1 pm. In the evening, an exclusive VIP preview party will take place at Greta Garbo Casita at La Quinta Resort.

Finally, on February 27 the main event will take place: The 2011 Desert Classic Concours d’Elegance, featuring precious vintage cars like a 1920 Bugatti Type 13 Brescia, a 1933 Maserati Grand Prix 8-CM, a 1930 Model L-29 Cord, and a 1013 Isotta Fraschini which participated at the Indy 500. An Auction for 72 restored vehicles will be held simultaneously by EG Auctions. Proceeds will go to Tools, for Tomorrow, Loving all Animals, and Wounded Warrior Project.

Active duty military and children under 12 will participate at the event for free, while the others will buy their tickets with $25 in advance and $35 on the day of the event.
