Impressive Audi Sport Quattro Concept Heads to Frankfurt

One of the goodies to make their debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show next week is the awesome Audi Sport Quattro Concept. While inspiration for this project came from earlier versions of the Quattro line – including the Sport Quattro that set a new record at the Pikes Peak Hill Climb in 1987, and the original Ur-Quattro of the ‘80s – the new concept is fresh and very modern.

Besides its bold new design, the car also flaunts a very contemporary powertrain, it being a plug-in hybrid with a total output of 700 hp. The twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine is assisted by an electric motor and liquid-cooled li-ion battery of 14.1 kWh. The massive power of 700 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque is sent to all four wheels via an eight-speed Tiptronic transmission.

We also love the slightly modified grille design and the basic headlamp shape boasting the automaker’s signature Matrix LED technology. On the inside there is plenty of carbon fiber to admire and an overall sporty theme characterized by sharp lines. The four-passenger beauty has a quitegenerous cargo space for its dimensions, offering 10.59 cubic feet for luggage.
