Drones come in a variety of shapes and sizes and are used for many things such as transportation or capturing/streaming videos from unique perspectives. The 3DR Solo Drone by 3D Robotics falls in the latter category, as it can be equipped with a GoPro camera that streams HD video directly onto the pilot’s tablet or smartphone.
The camera is attached to the drone’s 3-axis gimbal, which means that its viewing angles can be changed mid-flight. The controller for the drone itself is intuitive and ergonomic, and the user can always switch from Manual Mode to a particularly useful Follow Mode. Flaunting a flight time of 20 minutes, a smart battery and an LED indicator, the 3DR Solo is actually a smaller version of the successful DJI Phantom 3 drone. It’s also worth noting that even though this gadget costs $1,465, its GoPro camera is not included in the package.
