Yachts are awesome for a number of reasons but they’re definitely not the most eco-friendly means of transportation. It’s true that once you agree to pay millions of dollars on a personal yacht, eco-friendliness is probably not your main concern, but a company from Sweden named Hareide Design has decided to create a viable alternative to these regular gas-guzzlers, namely a hybrid megayacht that measures 354 feet in length.
Some of the yacht’s main highlights include an elevated dining area that offers splendid views of the landscape, a beautiful garden, a large swimming pool and a grand hall that can be used for meetings or ceremonies. The vessel is powered by no less than 3,229 square feet of high-efficiency solar panels that charge up a series of lithium-ion battery banks. Obviously, the cruising speed is not the most impressive, but many would agree that a slower speed is a small price to pay for complete independence from fossil fuels.
