For that kind of money you would expect to get a luxurious chateau with numerous bedrooms and bathrooms, lush gardens, two pools, a 10-car garage, a home cinema, a spa, a gym and access to your very own private beach. Surprisingly enough though, the Jackson Land & Cattle Ranch is far from that, even though it proudly wears the hefty price tag.
The property includes a modest 3-bedroom barn-turned-house, a 4-bedroom guest house (yes, it’s larger than the main house), 2 employee apartments and a 52-stall equestrian barn. Clearly, this is far from being worth almost two hundred million dollars, which means that there must be more to this offer than the aforementioned buildings. And there is: the property measures 1,750 acres (that’s some $1,000 an acre) and it includes three fishing ponds. Still feel that the price is too steep? Well, the ranch is also close to the Jackson Hole Ski Area and offers gorgeous views of the Rocky mountains. Still not satisfied? Sorry, but there’s nothing more we can say to convince you that the price is fair.
It seems that the owner – casino mogul and Coastal Development CEO, Richard Fields – is not new at making very profitable real estate deals. A few years back he bought a 3-bedroom apartment in the most expensive building in New York for $13.5 million and sold it only six months later for a whopping $27 million (twice what he had paid for it). And we assure you, he hadn’t added any new bedrooms to the apartment before selling it for the huge price. Given all that, we have to admit we are really curious to see who will actually buy the $175 million Wyoming property!
