Hublot has created a very special chronograph watch dedicated to the fastest man on the planet, Usain Bolt. The Jamaican sprinter set a new world record in 2009, when he completed the 100 meters run in only 9.58 seconds. As the London Olympics are approaching, the world-famous athlete is getting ready to set new records in the 100 meters, 200 meters, and 4×100 meters relay.
Usain Bolt is an ambassador for Hublot, and the chairman of the company, Jean-Claude Biver, stated that “It’s perfectly natural to be associated with the fastest man, not just on the planet, but the fastest since the Big Bang.” Consequently, the watchmaker will create a limited edition luxury timepiece called the Hublot King Power Usain Bolt.
With a 48mm micro-blasted ceramic case, the watch features 252 components and 27 jewels, and it will only be produced in 250 examples. The golden touches that decorate the dial and the rubber strap are reminiscent of Bolt’s lucky footwear that brought him the world champion title. The golden leather on the strap is actually made of the exact same material that was used for his shoes.
The dial shows a 30-minute counter positioned a 3 o’clock, a 12-hour counter at 6 o’clock, and a central 60-second hand. The 12-hour counter features some green details in honor of Bolt’s mother country, Jamaica, and right next to it, at the 4:30 position, there is the small date window. Also in honor of Usain Bolt, the silhouette of his signature pose at 9 o’clock appears in anthracite gray transfer over a black background.
