Here to take the prize away from San Francisco and the expensive Blue Bottle’s $16 Port of Mohka brew and Equator’s $15 Finca Sophia comes a coffee shop located in Brooklyn’s Sunset Park neighborhood. Extraction Lab offers delicious albeit expensive cups of coffee that carry price tags from $3 to $18. The coffees are prepared using a high-end “full-immersion, single-cup, semi-automated vacuum brewer” named Steampunk, which costs about $13,900 for two machines.
The shop in question owns and operates eight of these complex and expensive coffee makers, which is probably why the coffee costs that much. Still, the most expensive cup of coffee in America is likely an incredibly delicious treat, created using exotic blends and only the freshest coffee.
