What do people usually do when they have lots of money to spend? They get extravagant. Here is a literally “great” example: Hamad Bin Hamdan Al Ahyan, an opulent member of the ruling family in Abu Dhabi, decided that he wanted his name written on the Futaisi island.
Now it’s not unusual for people to write their names on sand and then take pictures of their “work”. We bet many of you have already done that. But this time the letters are half a mile high and two miles long and the pictures can only be taken from an airplane. Google maps is another good way to read the huge lettering. The inscription is carved so deep into the land, that water has actually come out to fill the letters.
Clearly, this is not the only extravagant thing the sheik owns. The 63-year-old man – also referred to as “The Rainbow Sheik” – has a wealth that’s only exceeded by that of the Saudi king. His amazing 200 cars collection includes seven Mercedes 500 SELs, each one painted in one of the seven colors of the rainbow and set in a huge pyramid.
