Chromecast is the latest rival to the popular Roku and Apple TV wireless streaming devices and it comes – of course – from Google. Probably the first thing that everybody will love about it is its price: at $35 it is a highly affordable gadget meant to bring all your favorite online videos and other streams directly to your TV (smart TV or not).
Also very easy to install and use, Chromecast takes us one step closer to sending traditional cable providers into oblivion. Setup is a matter of minutes: you simply insert it into the TV’s HDMI port and then connect it to your home’s Wi-Fi. Working with any operating system, it can stream from any type of mobile device. Chromecast is compatible with services such as YouTube, Google Chrome and Netflix.
