The Salone Internazionale del Mobile in Milan is always a fascinating fair to go to. This year Bisazza, a luxury mosaic tile company, paid homage to Italian designer and architect Alessandro Mendini with a dazzling collection at La Triennale di Milano. Bisazza and Mendini have worked together for over two decades now and the results of their collaboration are simply stunning.

A huge exhibit by Atelier Mendini showed immense sculptures covered with hand-cut Bisazza mosaic tiles made of 24k yellow gold. The limited-edition collection was created between 1997 and 2008 and it comprises nine sculptures that dazzle with size and glamour. In 1997 the first series of the collection was made: the Giaca (Jacket), Testa (head), Guanto (Glove) and Scapa (Shoe) sculptures. Then in 2002 two more pieces were added: the Tazza (Cup) and the Lampada (Lamp). The year 2003 added the Stella (Star), the following year brought the Cappello (Hat) and finally the collection was complete with the Brosa (Bag) in 2008.

Also at the exhibition a new book by Stefano Casciani was presented. Published by Skira, the book is another a tribute to Alessandro Mendini and it includes all the sculptures that the artist has made using Bisazza tiles.
