George Clooney’s Casamigos Tequila Reaches Europe

Since George Clooney launched his very own brand of tequila in January, the spirit has enjoyed a lot of success, and gained significant popularity among connoisseurs. Called Casamigos (“House of friends”), the tequila participated in the Los Angeles International Spirits Competition, where it won a gold medal, and we’ve been assured that Clooney’s irresistible charm did not influence the judges’ decision.

Obviously proud of his new accomplishment, the fabled actor hand-delivered a number of Casamigos cases to Hotel Cipriani in Venice, which became the first European hotel to stock the brand. The hotel’s head barman Walter Bolzonella has already created a new cocktail based on this exquisite spirit, using ginger, lime, cucumber peel, and a couple of drops of Angostura. The fine drink is called Goodnight Amigos and is reportedly an adaptation of Clooney’s own cocktail called Buonatte.

The Hollywood legend created the spirit together with bar and restaurant mogul Rande Gerber. Together they worked for years to obtain the best taste and then enjoyed the results privately before finally deciding to launch it on the market. ‘Our idea was to make the best-tasting, smoothest tequila whose taste didn’t have to be covered up with salt or lime’, they said.
