Having started the season only 74 hits away from his 3,000th hit, Derek Jeter’s popularity increased with every new move that took him closer to the magic number. Now that he’s finally there, Jordan Brand decided to celebrate this important achievement with a special collection dedicated to him and called DJ3K (which obviously stands for Derek Jeter 3,000).
The collection consists of two limited edition T-shirts, a pair of batting gloves, a pair of training sneakers and a pair of cleats. The training shoes are maroon (the color of Jeter’s alma mater, Kalamazoo Central High School in Western Michigan) and has gold accents on the outsoles. The insoles of both pairs are printed with the “contract” that Dr. Charles Jeter, Derek’s father, wrote and had his son sign on his first day of high school. The contract said that young Derek would train hard to become the best basketball player he could be. The contract is also printed on the boxes that hold the shoes and the other items in the collection.
Retailers will soon have the collection available for diehard fans.
