Located in Piedmont, California, the Concrete House project was designed by Ogrydziak and Prillinger Architects studio. It is a remodel of a 1974 concrete and brick house, built for a single couple. The 7,000 square foot house was designed as an open plan, built around a central courtyard. The Concrete House is meant for a family, and it keeps the original preference for visual openness and exposed materials.
The outdoor blends with the indoor through sliding glass doors, which extend the living room into the pool terrace. The whole house was remodeled to maximize the flexibility of the space. The kitchen can become an open space by opening the oversized folding doors. The house also received three extra bedrooms.
