Sketched out by the expert architects over at Creative Arch in 2013, Rothesay Bay is a stunning home located in one of Aukland’s most beautiful suburbs. Inspired by the local site itself and its cliff-top edge, the residence offers fabulous views of the sea, and the best part is that it was actually designed with environmental considerations in mind.
These include cross ventilation systems, passive heating for the living room and kitchen, double-glazed full height aluminum joinery in the main living areas, and a new louvre system that ensures windbreak as well as shade for the kitchen in the warm months. For the external cladding, the architects used a combination of stained cedar shiplap, which is complemented with powder-coated metal cladding and plaster. Inside, a wooden staircase with wooden steps and glass railings connects the different levels of the abode.
