Celebrities Private Islands

Celebrities Private Islands

It’s a little out-of-date for movie or music stars to buy expensive cars and luxury homes . Nowadays you can call yourself a true celebrity only if you can afford to have your own island.

To be honest we are tempted to say that this is simply one of the many caprices of stars, but if you think of it some more, you might see things differently. These oasis are probably the only places where paparazzi-hunted celebs can find some privacy and a relaxing time.

The islands are also ecological paradises, so the constructions here only use solar and eolian energy and the food is always organic.

Sir Richard Branson

Sir Richard Branson, the founder of Virgin British company, already has his own collection of islands.

Sir Richard Branson Island

Two of them are Necker and Moskito in the Virgin Islands archipelago. His paradisiacal homes are all fitted with the best amenities and the most excellent services are ensured there.

Johnny Depp

Johnny Depp Island

You can only get to his island (if allowed!) by boat or by helicopter. This is a 35 acres piece of land in Bahamas, the Little Hall’s Pond Cay, and it was acquired for 3,6 million dollars. Not a bad place to spend a vacation for the “pirate of the Caribbean”!

Mel Gibson

Mel Gibson Island

The Mago Island in Fiji belongs to one special Australian actor – Mel Gibson. The 5.400 acre island is one of the largest in South Pacific and it set Gibson back $15 million in 2005. Now guess who his neighbor is. David Copperfield himself; and by neighbor you should only understand that he also has an island in South Pacific.

David Copperfield

David Copperfield Island

The magician paid $50 million for his Musha Cay. Probably he can make money with a simple trick… Anyway, the island is said to be so beautiful that nothing on Earth can be compared to it.

Leonardo di Caprio

Leonardo di Caprio Island

One of the most coveted men on Earth has just made himself even more irresistible. He bought a little corner of Paradise where many women would dream to spend a few days – with him, of course. But his plans are a little different. Di Caprio intends to turn the Blackadore Cay in a luxury resort and he already signed a contract with Four Seasons, the world leading operator of hotels and resorts.

Shakira

Shakira Island

The singer only bought a part of Bonds Cay, an island in the Bahamas, but this acquisition cost her $16 million. The rest of the island belongs to Spanish artist Alejandro Sanz, and Roger Waters from Pink Floyd.

Nicolas Cage

Nicholas Cage Island

Another neighbor for Jonny Depp and Copperfield is Nicolas Cage and his $3 million island, Leaf Cay. Well, at least for now, as he plans to sell his property for $7 million. But why would anyone give up their own island? Probably to buy a bigger one!

Eddie Murphy

Eddie Murphy Island

Stars seem to really enjoy the Bahamas! Eddie Murphy is another celebrity that decided to buy himself a nice place here. His island is Rooster Cay and he bought it in 2007 for $15 million.

Celine Dion

Celine Dion Island

This particular star opted for something different. Her island is not located in the tropical waters, but in Canada. Ile Gagnon is located in the singer’s province of birth and this explains her choice.

The list is longer, of course. Toni Curtis, Claudia Schieffer, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, Faith Hill, Gene Hackman, Robin Williams and Steven Spielberg are all private island owners. And be assured that many more will follow. White sands, clear waters and tall palm trees, who wouldn’t want to own at least a small beautiful beach ?
