BMW Unveiled the i8 Plug-In Hybrid Production Version

Teasing time is over. BMW is finally ready to show us how the official production version of the i8 plug-in hybrid. The super-efficient supercar is expected to reach dealerships next year in spring, sporting a 1.5 liter 3 cylinder engine and a powerful electric motor.

Together, the two power sources will put out 362 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque, promising a 0-62 mph time of only 4.4 seconds, and a top speed of 155 mph. The 2+2 vehicle will cover 94 miles with one gallon of fuel, which is pretty amazing for a sports car. With a base price of $136,000, the new i8 will also boast lots of new technologies, such as a Surround View camera system and new LED headlights with extra brightness and extra efficiency, known as laser headlights.
