Louis Vuitton is not exactly the world’s most renowned watchmaker, but there are quite a few LV pieces out there that can surprise even the most demanding connoisseurs. Since summer is in full bloom, the famed French brand has decided to unveil a new pair of timepieces, each quite amazing in its own way.
The Escale Spin Time is a lively, colorful and unique watch that impresses with a stunning Spin Time complication based on a series of rotating cubes coupled directly to the movement. This complication acts as a jumping hours mechanism, as each of the twelve cubes are marked with numerals on two sides for 12 and 24-hour timekeeping. The minutes can be read using an inner scale, and they are indicated by a small hand that stands out from behind a large central disk. What’s really noteworthy is that the other two visible sides of the cubes are hand-painted with miniature flags. Measuring in at 41mm in diameter and 11.2mm in thickness, the Escale Spin is powered by an automatic caliber LV77 movement, which flaunts a power reserve of 42 hours.
Louis Vuitton also has unveiled its new GMT watch, which comes with a V-shaped hour marker at 12 o’clock, a central V that indicates a second timezone, and a GMT ring. It is available in steel with a silver toned or anthracite sunburst dial, or in pink gold with a blue dial, both versions boasting 41.5mm cases as well as 42-hour power reserves and water resistance ratings of 164 feet.
