Babe Ruth’s Favorite 1927 Baseball Bat to Go Under the Hammer

The 1927 baseball season was a huge event in America. It was the year when the Yankees became the legendary team that we know today, and Babe Ruth made history by hitting 60 home runs. The incredibly talented baseball player is still considered an icon of American sports, and dedicated fans of the legend are still willing to pay huge amount of money for pieces of memorabilia that are somehow related to his name.

One such very special item is the only 1927 Babe Ruth game used bat in private hands, PSA/DNA GU 10. According to expert John Taube, this particular bat was one of Ruth’s favorite. He reached this conclusion based on the “use pattern on the left barrel and the presence of handle scoring and heavy barrel scoring, both of which are excellent Ruth characteristics.”

This authentic piece of sports history will soon be auctioned off by Heritage Auctions. The event – Platinum Night Auction – will take place on August 2, 2012 in Baltimore.
