Audi is embracing the hybrid technology and after years of teasing with the hybrid Q5, the automaker is finally ready to do more. The hybrid A8 that they unveiled in 2010 at the Geneva Motor Show will be launched on the market in 2012 as an ideal car for those who love the Audi design, but want their transportation to be as environmentally friendly as possible.

Powered by a 2.0 TFSI engine and an electric motor, the hybrid A8 sports 180 kW (22245 hp) and 480 Nm (345 lb-ft) of torque. Its 37 mpg fuel efficiency may not sound very impressive, but it’s pretty good, considering the size of the car. You can drive the vehicle for three kilometers (1.86 miles) on electric energy alone and even reach speeds of up to 100 km/h (62 mph) without any diesel help.
