I think we can all agree that Porsche makes some of the best cars in the world, and even though many of them share similar designs, there are a series of subtle differences between various models. The newer models, for example, such as the 718 Boxster and Boxster S boast more aggressive-looking front fascias when compared to their predecessors, and they also come with bi-xenon headlights, integrated LED daytime running lights and large air intakes.
Then there are the new door handles, the back three-dimensional LED taillights, the redesigned side skirts and the accent strips with Porsche lettering. On the inside, however, the main modifications involve a series of circular air vents, as well as a new steering wheels and improved Porsche Communication Management systems.
Power-wise, the 718 Boxster is the entry-level model, which is why it packs a 2.0-liter turbocharged flat four engine that’s good for 280 lb ft of torque and 300 horsepower. The 718 Boxster S, is powered by a turbocharged 2.5-liter flat-four engine that develops 309 lb ft of torque and 350 horsepower. The 718 Boxster equipped with a PDK transmission and a Sport Chrono Package can perform a 0 to 60 mph sprint in just 4.5 seconds, while its top speed is somewhere at around 170 mph. On the other hand, the Boxster S can perform the same sprint in just 4 seconds and can reach a maximum speed of 177 mph.
These two cars are priced at $56,000 and $68,400 respectively, which sounds fair considering their updated looks and impressive performance capabilities.
