The third generation model of the half-a-century-old Beetle will be displayed simultaneously at the Shanghai Auto Show, New York Auto Show and in Berlin. Clearly more aggressive than the previous versions, this Beetle boasts 19-inch rims, a rear spoiler, bi-xenon technology with LED DRLs and flared wings. Inside, the redesign includes hi-tech features like the Fender audio system.

The 2012 Volkswagen Beetle will be available with both diesel TDI engines and petrol TSI units. It will first make it to the North American auto market in September. Then the European market will receive it in October, with Asia finally getting the new car in February 2012.
